🎇 Celebrate responsibly this Fourth of July!
Fireworks are a fun holiday tradition, but they can also cause serious injuries, fires, and property damage.
Before lighting fireworks, here are some tips to keep our community safe:
-Only adults should handle fireworks.
-Use them on a paved surface away from homes, vehicles, trees, and dry grass.
-Never point or throw fireworks at people, pets, or buildings.
-Keep a hose nearby and place spent fireworks in a metal bucket filled with water.
-Never alter fireworks or attempt to make your own.
-Never relight a "dud" firework.
-Soak used fireworks in a metal bucket of water before disposing of them.
Did you know? Oregon law prohibits fireworks that fly, explode, or travel more than six feet on the ground. Violations can result in fines of up to $500 per violation, and individuals may also be held responsible for any damage caused.
If you experience a fire or medical emergency, call 911 immediately. To report illegal fireworks, contact the non-emergency line at 503-629-0111.
Have a safe and happy Independence Day! ❤️🤍💙

We hope you all have a safe and fun 4th of July this week! If you intend to use fireworks, please keep them legal and safe.
Our friends at Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue provided these firework use tips:
Just because some fireworks are legal, doesn’t mean they’re 100 percent safe. This includes sparklers. They can reach temperatures of 1,200 degrees — wood burns at 575 degrees, while glass melts at 900 degrees (National Fire Protection Association).
• Only adults should light or handle fireworks. Supervise children at all times.
• Use fireworks outdoors on a paved surface, away from buildings, vehicles, and vegetation.
• Never pick up or try to re-light a “dud.”
• Never alter fireworks or make your own.
• Have a hose nearby in case of fire and place “spent” fireworks in a metal bucket with water.
